Unfair and ********* practises

Unfair and ********* practises I Upgraded my phone at the Vodacom in Rosebank on the 19th July 2018, and to my horror received a bill on the 8th August for R3711,25 of which R3,077.60 is for data, about 4 gigs worth. My new contract took effect 1st August (News to me) and since receiving my phone according to Vodacom I have used all that data!, it turns out when the new sim came active (20th July) the phone automatically did a firm ware update, several software updates and a number of application updates without me even knowing. All running in the back ground on a new phone and technology I’m unfami**** with. How is that fair, especially since I was not informed of these updates!, nor that this might happen!, I was also supposed to get 10 Gig’s once of data, and this looks like it only takes effect on the 1st August as well, so I’m *****ed for this bill and very angry about how this happened, surly Vodacom could have warned me? Or at least given me the 10 Gigs immediately to cover this ridiculous charge? Or of set this usage against what I will receive? R 669.42 per Gig!!!! That’s nuts, ( I can get 6 Gigs from MTN for R399) and no warning, It is the first time I have upgraded my phone (Handset) since 2012, If this is how cell phone companies and cell phone manufacturers operate then stuff all of you, I’m going back to my land line! If I had known this would have happened I would not have used my new phone for the 11 days before the new contract commenced, if I had known that I was paying pro rata for out of bundle rates for any use on the new phone I would not have used it at all over those 11 days. I could not use my old cell as the sim is diferent to the new phone, and the sim was suspended on the 20th, so I was forced to use the new phone, and run up these charges without my knowledge or consent. (What happened to the remaining calls and data on my old contract, was this not valid until the end of the month? And what will happen now if I can’t make payment on this bill? R 3711, 25 unbudgeted amounts! Will my account be suspended? Will the threatening calls and emails start? Will I be threatened with legal action? Vodacom this is a legal term for you, it’s called a “FORCE MEASURE” forcing someone into something with out there knowledge or consent or forcing their will! You have entrapped me into using data unwittingly and then prejudiced me and financially harming me with your actions! Vodacom has until the 30th August to assist me, or I will take this to the ombudsman for unfair and ********* practises.
