********* conduct.
I bought a Galaxy S9 from Vodacom on the 20th of December 2018. The phone started to malfunction on the 16th of November 2020, while still under warranty. I took the phone to Vodacom Repairs at Savanna Mall in Polokwane. after they "assessed" the phone they told me i needed to pay R1600 for the phone to be repaired. I then asked why must i pay while the phone is still under warranty. They then told me it's the battery that's the problem and the battery is not covered under the warranty. I then requested that they give me back the phone as i knew i was being ****med because there's no way a battery can cost R1600. I contacted Vodacom via facebook messenger and they basically did nothing to assist me. I then bought a battery myself for less than R400 and took it to be installed, only to be told that the problem is not the battery but the motherboard. So basically i feel ****** and cheated by Vodacom and i believe I'm not the only victim. Knowing very well that most of us can't open and assess these smartphones ourselves or even replace the battery, this is a good opportunity to **** people like myself who's devices are still under warranty but you are still expected to pay. This must be reported and i will wait for a response from Vodacom from the email i sent. If the matter is still not addressed i will be taking this matter to ICASA, Samsung and the Ombudsman. I have been a loyal client for many years and this how I'm treated today?
