I received a call last week from a Number which my Truecaller flagged as "Vodacom Spam".
When answered, I was informed that my Vodacom contract will be discontinued and I would now HAVE to go onto a different one. From there I had to listen to what my options were - all of which would be more than what I am currently paying.
I questioned this, since I signed a 3year contract with vodacom at an agreed upon rate and it doesn't seem fair that I now have to pay extra when Vodacom decides to change their products? The lady then said it is stated in my contract - and I signed.
I could argue that I was never clearly informed upon signing (if I did), perhaps burried somewhere deep in the fine print. But if it were true, then the LEAST Vodacom could do would be to send formal written communication and give at least 2/3 months notice. The lady's response to this was that it was advertised on Vodacom's website. I don't sit around browsing through vodacom's website daily - most people don't. It can't be assumed that such important information would be seen by your customers in this way.
So NO, a "by-the-way courtesy call" just 2 weeks before end of the month is NOT sufficient notice to inform me of these changes.
I reluctantly agreed to these changes as I was told that it would change regardless of whether I accepted or not. I am NOT happy.
