Uncanceled contract

I have a contract with vodacom. My acc was in arrears which I manage to bring up to date on the 2nd September. When I was at the shop I asked the guy to help me and he gave me a email add where I can send my query. I sent to *** which was given to me saying I paid up and the contract must be canceled. I got a respond to say they received my mail. Nothing was sent there after so I thought everything was well only to recived a statement 2 month after on the 4th November saying that I owe vodacom and I need to pay I try to call the cancellation department and the say the can not help I should speak to the subscriber department and the also say they can't help so I dont know where to go cause the thing just keeps accumulating and I cant afford and I stated on the email I sent. Can someone help me out if they have came across such
