UNBELIEVABLE! Vodacom's Recycled Number Nightmare! NEW SIM, OLD PROBLEMS
Extreme disappointment and frustration with the service I've received regarding my new phone number. Despite purchasing a brand new SIM card, I've been receiving calls intended for someone else, and I'm unable to use the number on social media platforms like TikTok because it says the number is already in use.
I've been communicating with vodacom support team, but the issue remains unresolved. The explanation that the number is recycled and previously owned by someone else is unacceptable, especially since the previous owner still seems to have access to the number.
As a customer, I expect a functional phone number that I can use without issues. I urge you to take immediate action to resolve this matter, including:
1. Investigating why the recycled number is still accessible to the previous owner. 2. Providing a new, unique phone number that I can use without issues. 3. Ensuring that the necessary steps are taken to prevent similar issues in the future.
They won't take my complaint seriously and provide a prompt resolution. This is forcing me to explore alternative network providers.
Thank you for making us aware of your complaint.
Kindly be advised that a consultant will make contact with you in due course to assist with your query.

Despite my efforts to get assistance from Vodacom's customer service, At 11:12am today, 13 February2025 I was told (over a phone call) that they lack control over recycled numbers and cannot resolve the issue and with that they closed the matter as they have told me what they supposed to tell me ☹️
"Dear Vodacom Customer. Your service ticket with reference number EC-215W-3QEE55 has been closed. Thank you Vodacom."
This response is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about Vodacom's management of recycled numbers. As a customer, I expect a functional phone number that I can use without issues. It is not my problem that Vodacom lacks control over recycled numbers; it is their responsibility to ensure that their customers receive working phone numbers.
By washing their hands off the matter, Vodacom is essentially telling me that I'm on my own and that they're not willing to take any further action to resolve the issue. This is not the level of service I expect from a telecommunications provider.
I urge Vodacom to take immediate action to address this issue, including:
1. Investigating why they lack control over recycled numbers and taking steps to rectify the situation.
2. Providing a new, unique phone number that I can use without issues.
3. Ensuring that the necessary steps are taken to prevent similar issues in the future.
