Unauthorized Vodacom Contract Migration – No Consent and No Call Recordings Provided
In May 2024, I upgraded through a Vodacom store to a 3-year contract for a 20GB data SIM with a tablet, paying approximately R400 per month. The contract functioned perfectly and there were no billing or service issues.
However, in October 2025, my contract was migrated without my authorization or knowledge to a MyGig10 package, which has increased my monthly cost to approximately R700 while also reducing my data allocation.
The migration appears to have been performed by an agent with the username “Zanzekal1.”
I want to make it very clear:
• I never requested this migration • I never signed a new contract • I never gave telephonic authorization
In December 2025, I visited the Vodacom store where the original contract was concluded. Unfortunately, they advised they could not assist and referred me to customer care.
Since January 2026, I have spent multiple hours on calls with Vodacom support trying to resolve this matter, with no success.
In February 2026, I specifically requested the call recordings or proof of consent that supposedly authorized this contract migration. Vodacom confirmed that a ticket was logged, but to date no recordings, evidence, or feedback has been provided.
At this stage it appears Vodacom cannot produce any proof that I authorized this change, yet I am still being billed on the new package and being told that penalties will apply if I want to revert.
This situation raises very serious concerns regarding:
• Unauthorized modification of a fixed-term contract • Possible *****ulent activity by an internal agent • Failure to provide proof of consent when formally requested
As a consumer, I cannot legally be bound to a contract change that I never authorized.
I am requesting the following immediate action:
A full investigation into the actions of agent “Zanzekal1.”
Immediate reversal of the unauthorized migration.
Restoration of my original May 2024 contract terms.
Correction of billing backdated to October 2025.
Written confirmation that no penalties will apply.
If Vodacom cannot provide verifiable proof of consent, then the migration must be considered invalid and corrected accordingly.
Should this matter not be resolved urgently, I will escalate the complaint to the National Consumer Commission and the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa for further investigation.
I trust Vodacom will address this matter with the urgency it deserves.
