Unauthorized Two-Year Contract Without Our Consent

My husband and I completed and honoured our three-year contracts in full. At expiry, we were advised to move onto a prepaid data option of approximately R500 per month. We were clearly told this would involve a four-month lock-in period, after which it would revert to a month-to-month arrangement that we could cancel at any time.

We have now been informed that we were instead placed on a new two-year contract — without our knowledge or consent. This was not what was explained to us, and it was certainly not our understanding when we signed.

As a result, my husband was unable to take out a new contract and purchase a new phone today. To make matters worse, the department that handles these issues only operates during weekday office hours, leaving us unable to resolve this on a Saturday.

We are extremely frustrated by this unacceptable situation. We expect immediate cancellation of the unauthorized contract and appropriate resolution for the inconvenience caused.

I cannot believe it, but after all these weeks, Vodacom still hasn't phoned us to resolve this issue. It is unacceptable.
