Unauthorized insurance charges

Title: Unauthorized Insurance Added to My Vodacom Account and Blacklisting I am extremely disappointed with the way Vodacom has handled my account. In February 2026, I noticed that insurance had been added to my Vodacom contract without my knowledge or consent. I immediately contacted Vodacom and was assured that the insurance would be removed. However, the following month the insurance charge was still on my account. I continued trying to resolve the matter and paid my account. My contract was eventually converted to prepaid. After settling the account, I discovered that another insurance policy had been added to my account, this time at a much higher premium. I never requested or authorized these insurance products. Despite several attempts to resolve the issue with Vodacom, the charges remained on my account. I recently visited a Vodacom store and was informed that I have been blacklisted due to the outstanding amount that resulted from these disputed insurance charges. I am requesting the following: • Proof that I authorized the insurance policies added to my account. • Immediate removal of any unauthorized insurance products. • Reversal and refund of all unauthorized insurance charges. • Removal of any adverse credit listing or blacklisting related to these disputed charges. • A full written explanation of how these insurance policies were added to my account. I hope Vodacom will urgently investigate this matter and provide a fair resolution. Ronel Steenkamp

Thank you for your response.
I have heard this before and I sincerely hope that this time the matter will actually be resolved.
My frustration is that I have repeatedly contacted Vodacom regarding insurance that was added to my account without my consent. I was assured that it would be removed, yet it continued to appear on my account and was even replaced by a more expensive insurance product.
As a result, I am now facing the consequences of being blacklisted for charges that I dispute and never agreed to in the first place.
I would like Vodacom to provide proof that I authorized these insurance policies. If such proof cannot be provided, I expect the unauthorized charges to be reversed and any adverse credit listing to be removed.
I have spent months trying to resolve this matter and I trust that a consultant will contact me urgently with a meaningful solution rather than another reference number and further delays.
I look forward to your response.

Should this matter not be resolved satisfactorily, I will have no option but to consider further action through legal channels.

I believe I have made every reasonable effort to resolve this matter directly with Vodacom. If it is found that insurance products were added to my account without my consent and that I suffered damage to my credit record as a result, I reserve my rights to pursue all remedies available to me and to seek recovery of any costs incurred in resolving this matter.

I sincerely hope that Vodacom will investigate this matter properly and resolve it without the need for further escalation.

Following my Hellopeter complaint, I was contacted by a Vodacom representative on 9 June 2026.

During this discussion I was informed that the insurance in question was loaded onto a different number linked to an old modem account that had been cancelled a long time ago and is no longer in use.

This information has raised even more concerns for me. I never requested insurance on this modem account and I do not understand how insurance could be added to a cancelled service.

At this time I am requesting a full investigation into how and by whom this insurance was added without my knowledge or consent to a cancelled account, this suggests unauthorized activity on my account and raises serious concerns regarding possible *****.

I again request that Vodacom provide proof of authorization, reverse all unauthorized charges and remove any adverse listing that resulted from these disputed charges.

I look forward to receiving a full written explanation and resolution

Vodacom confirmed that they are unable to provide any proof that I authorized the insurance products that were added to my account and for confirmed that the charges will be refunded. While I appreciate the refund, I do not consider the matter fully resolved. Insurance was added to my account without my consent, despite my immediate objection when I first became aware of it. The charges continued thereafter and ultimately resulted in significant inconvenience, stress, and adverse consequences for me. I therefore request the following: Written confirmation of the total amount that will be refunded and the date on which the refund will be processed. Written confirmation that no adverse credit listing remains against my name as a result of these disputed charges. If any adverse listing was made, written confirmation that it has been removed. A full explanation of how insurance was added to my account without my authorization. Details of the corrective measures implemented to prevent similar incidents from affecting other customers. Given that Vodacom has confirmed that no proof of authorization exists, I believe a full investigation and explanation are warranted. I look forward to your response.
