Unauthorized Contract Upgrades by Vodacom Call Centres – My Experience
A Vodacom consultant phoned me and asked if I would like to upgrade my contract from 50GB to 100GB. I declined. Despite this, they went ahead and changed my contract—not to 100GB, but to an airtime contract that is twice as expensive.
This is not the first time I’ve experienced this. I previously requested that another contract be cancelled and moved to prepaid. Instead of following my clear instruction, Vodacom simply moved me onto another contract, even though I explicitly stated that I do not want any additional contracts.
It seems there is no proper control or accountability within Vodacom’s call centres. Customers’ instructions are ignored, and contracts are being altered without consent.

08 Oct 2025, 09:40Thank you for addressing these issues. I would, however, like to make one suggestion: please consider implementing a different approach to providing new and amended offers for SIM-only contracts, which seems to be a yearly occurrence.
Call centre agents often proceed to alter packages and activate offers even after clients have explicitly declined the offer. I’ve experienced a similar situation with The Unlimited Group.
If a client is genuinely interested in upgrading to a larger data plan at a reduced rate, it may be more reliable to let an AI-based system manage the process. While I fully support job creation, honesty and trust should always remain the top priority.
Once again, thank you for resolving these issues.
