01 Sept 2026, 09:28I am extremely unhappy with a contract that was recently processed on my Vodacom account following a call I received from a Vodacom consultant. The consultant called me and explained that the router I am currently using was apparently no longer in use and was supposed to have been upgraded two years ago. She then told me that Vodacom had noticed that I was paying a lot for 10GB of data and that they would give me 12GB for the same amount I am currently paying. At no point during the conversation was it clearly explained to me that I was entering into a new contract or extending my contract. In fact, towards the end of the conversation, I specifically asked the consultant about my existing contract. I asked whether my contract would still expire this year, and she confirmed that it would expire on 11 November 2026. I then specifically asked about the Wi-Fi/router contract and was told that it would expire next year.Based on the information she gave me, I had absolutely no reason to believe that I was agreeing to a new contract extending until 2028.I have now received a message informing me that I have apparently signed up for a new contract. I feel that I was misled and ******* into accepting a contract that I did not knowingly agree to.I also noticed that the amount of data on my account is significantly more than the 12GB that the consultant discussed with me, which further confirms that what was processed is not what was explained to me during the call.I want to make it very clear that I did not agree to a new contract extending until 2028. If I wanted to upgrade my package or enter into a new contract, I would have gone to a Vodacom store myself and made that decision after considering my options.I am currently paying around R880 for my service, and I have no intention of being locked into another expensive Wi-Fi contract until 2028. Fibre is widely available, and I would not knowingly choose to extend a Wi-Fi contract for another two years.I therefore formally request that Vodacom:Cancel the new contract with immediate effect.Reinstate my previous contract/package and original expiry date.Reverse any changes made to my account as a result of this call.Ensure that I am not charged any cancellation, upgrade, activation or contract-related fees.Provide me with the recording/transcript of the telephone conversation in which this contract was allegedly agreed to.Investigate the consultant who handled this call, as I believe I was given misleading information regarding the term and nature of the agreement.Confirm in writing that I will not be held liable for a contract that I did not knowingly and clearly agree to.If Vodacom has a recording of the call, I expect it to be reviewed carefully. I specifically asked the consultant about the expiry dates of my contracts, and her answers gave me the clear understanding that I was not entering into a new long-term contract.I am extremely disappointed that a Vodacom consultant would handle a customer in this manner. Customers should be given clear and honest information before being placed into a new contract, particularly when it creates a financial commitment lasting until 2028.I did not knowingly consent to this new contract, and I am formally disputing it. I will not accept liability for payments arising from an agreement that I believe was misrepresented to me.Please escalate this complaint to the appropriate department and provide me with a written response and resolution as soon as possible.
