Unauthorised product take up and bureau listing
I have find out that Vodacom has listed me on the bureau for nonpayment on a contract that I was advised on the 15th November 2024 was due for upgrade on the 04th December 2024. The consultant, took my details to diarize and call me back after processing the upgrade on the 04th of December 2024. I did not receive the callback and I called on the 10th of December 2024 and was told that the date of upgrade is now reflecting as October 2026, which clearly shows that the contract was upgraded to a product unknown to me but the consultant **** and said it was due to the line being reactivated. Then on the 18th of February 2025, I did a credit bureau check and discovered that I was in two months’ arrears with Vodacom and when I called through I was informed that I have a data only sim contract as the contract was converted to a top up contract during this whole upgrade fiasco. Now I am stuck with a contract that I do not even need as the only reason I was looking to upgrade was for a new mobile but your staff member deceived me by processing an easy sale instead of assisting me lawfully and explain to me that I did not qualify. I still want to cancel this contract as I would have at the end of payment term last year. I cannot pay arrears and continue with this contract as 1. I am paying for a service that was not offered to me and explained in detail. 2. Vodacom should provide me with proof of the conversation when this contract was extended as it will have valuable information like the debit date agreed upon, the method of payment selected by me, the detailed conversation of the consultant selling and explaining the product to me. (At this point I would have asked questions as this sim card was last used in 2022). Failure to submit this to me, should grant a reversal of the arrears listed by Vodacom on bureau and immediate termination of this contract. Failure to assist in this matter will result in me referring it to Consumer Protection Act, who can then assist with the remedy of this ******** agreement, the best thing is all calls are recorded and all information can be extracted from calls made between your company and I.
