Unauthorised deductions from bank account.
I recently had a misshap with my account, when Vodacom tried to deduct the normal payment of R 1,213.88 on 29 June 2018, but I have not received my salary yet at that stage. I then went to the Vodacom office and changed the deduction date to the seventh of each month to avoid the situation repeating itself. I also enquired the amount to be paid at the branch so I could pay it at a Checkers branch. Strangely, they gave me an amount of R 1,314.76, which is R 100 more than my actual bill. I then went to Checkers to pay the bill, but when I got there, the lady told me that the outstanding amount on the system was about R 1,514.00. I then proceeded to pay the amount I received from the Vodacom branch of 1,314.76. On 9 July, there was an attempted magtape debit from my account from Vodacom for R 2,528.64 - which is DOUBLE my normal payment amount. ( Obviously, there wasn't sufficient funds in the bank, so the transaction reversed, charging me R 100.00 in bank costs). We called Vodacom about the matter and the person we spoke to said that she can see the payment I made at Checkersand that they will set the situation right on their side.
On 7 August, they again tried to deduct a double payment from my account, again without my authorisation, which means they can deduct whatever amount they please, whenever they please from my account without my authorisation! I only had the normal amount of 1,213.88 in my account, so, again, the payment didnt go through, leaving me with the R 100 charge. Now they are threatening to suspend my account, but they are causing the problems themselves!!
