Unauthorised Airtime Subscription

I have a pre-paid SIM as well a data- only SIM with Vodacom I recently visited the just saw on the pre-paid profile in the My Vodacom app that i have airtime of about R55 more than I purchased and that I have a bill of R28. I also received an SMS saying "You have been unsubscribed from ExloreApp with effect from 2020/11/26. I have no knowledge of ever subscribing to ExploreApp or why i have more airtime than I need, or am owing R28.

I contacted the Vodacom customer care and was informed that to something called Blue Dot and that the subscription was done on 26/11/2020, coincidentally(or not) the same day i supposedly unsubscribed to another service i know nothing about. when i informed the agent that I know nothing about the subscription and that I do not even visit sites, click links or even respond to SMSes that I don't recognise, she told told me that al she can do is give me the contact number for Blue Dot so I can call them myself on Monday, as they do not even operate on weekends. So Vodacom knows a thing or two about these people, yet they do nothing. I am very disappointed in Vodacom. Had I not visited their mobile app i would have known that there is a debt in my name and nobody bothered to inform me when such a subscription was taking place to confirm whether I m aware and indeed agree to the subscription on not. I have a family member who has experienced the same situation and all Vodacom says is 'call them to unsubscribe". It appears that there are no controls in place to protect customers from such activities. Banks have found a way to communicate with account holders before allowing debit orders to be processed.

at this point I am wondering why i am still affiliated with a mobile service provider that cannot protect me when third parties they probably contracted with for these very airtime services, are resorting to such ************ means to make a buck.

I wonder whether ICASA is aware of this.

Hello Does Vodacom make any effort to ensure that the migration was in fact authorised by me, or is it that once you are assured of my loyalty you leave me to the vultures whose only concern is making a sale? Nobody contacted me, directly or otherwise, regarding this subscription. I DID NOT agree to such because I simply do not need that much airtime on a monthly basis. Since you have some kind of agreement with this RMCS (whose number is not going through, AMAZING!) what methods do you have in place to ensure that when they claim to have an agreement with YOUR customer, you can prove legitimacy of that agreement? Or is the onus on ME, the client who trusted YOU all this while, to prove that I know nothing about this nonsense? Yet another R55 has been loaded into my (apparently no longer) pre-paid account. I did not touch the previous R55 hoping that this mess would be solved and whoever loaded it would take it back. But I see that now I must fight.
