Unacceptable service

In May 2016 I moved to a new house and soon realised that the Vodacom reception is extremely poor. I logged a call with Vodacom. They investigated and told me that this is an issue and a new cell phone tower is needed for the area and that Vodacom plans to put one up. I was also informed that they cannot give any timeframe for this.

Subsequent to this I’ve phoned again towards the end of 2016 but was informed that they will not log the call as I cannot give them another number that has a similar problem. This for me is unacceptable. I did not have the energy to fight it at the time, so I left it.

On 31 December I realised that I cannot continue like this – if I want to make a call I need to get into and drive somewhere to get reception. I logged a call and was informed that I will have feedback within 2 working days. On 10 January I phoned again as I did not hear anything. I was informed that the agent that told me 2 working days was wrong it is 7 working days. The agent was very friendly and tried to assist. She spoke to the back office, who said they will phone me within 2 hours. No one phoned. On 12 January I phoned again. Again the agent spoke to the back office. I was told that the person dealing with the query is not available, they will phone me. Again no one has phoned me.

I’ve been a Vodacom client for 17 years now. This type of service is not acceptable. Can someone please confirm when this cell phone tower will be in place or what Vodacom will do in order for me to have reception at my house?! I also want to understand why Vodacom doesn’t stick to their own SLAs.
