UNACCEPTABLE: Debt Collectors & Credit Damage for a Settled Account
I am beyond disgusted with the service—or lack thereof—from Vodacom. This has escalated from an administrative oversight into a case of harassment and credit defamation. The Situation: I cancelled my contract in December 2025 and settled the balance. Four months later, I received a Letter of Demand. When I followed up at the Kimberley branch, I was told Vodacom "forgot" to add a final amount during cancellation. I paid it immediately and provided proof of payment. The Failure: Despite a full month of me calling and going in-store, nothing has changed. My account is supposedly "deleted" from the system, yet it still shows as ACTIVE/CURRENT. Because Vodacom cannot fix their internal records, debt collectors are now harassing me. My credit score is being ruined daily by an error Vodacom has admitted was theirs. My Demands: Immediate Cease and Desist: Call off your debt collectors today. System Correction: Correct the status of this account to "Closed/Settled" across all platforms. Credit Bureau Clearance: Provide written proof that you have contacted the credit bureaus to expunge this incorrect data. Final Settlement Letter: I want a letter confirming I owe R0.00 and that the contract is terminated. I have been patient, but my financial reputation is now on the line. If this is not resolved within 48 hours, I will be escalating this matter directly to the Credit Ombud and ICASA.
