unable to port prepiad number to existing contract

I'm surprised that Vodacom, being SA's so called number 1 network are not able to provide this service. Being part of Vodafone and where the biggest Network provider do this for their customers in the UK. I don't see why this service is not available here in South Africa. Is this network so far behind the rest of the world. That is sad.
