Unable to cancel device insurance

During the period of my employment, I was in possession of a company cellphone for almost 20 years. At the end of September 2020, I was unfortunately retrenched but decided to continue as a private client. The change from a corporate to a private contract was successful.

I was advised by a Vodacom Manager, Beverly Ndweni to contact Vodacom directly on *** to cancel the device insurance:

1. On 01 October, I contacted the above number and spoke to Mercy Sadiki. She stated that she has cancelled the insurance and as such, no additional debits will occur. I was therefore surprised when the additional debit for the device insurance occurred. 2. On 01 December, I contacted the same number and spoke to Bernadette and she advised that the device insurance had been cancelled and the unauthorized debits will be reversed. This did not occur. 3. On 10 December, I contacted the same number once again and was advised by Ghairunisha Carrim that she will escalate the matter for immediate resolution but I never received any feedback. 4. Further attempts were unsuccessful hence I decided to contact the Vodacom customer call center. After multiple interactions with Phindile Chiya, the problem still persists and no feedback has been forthcoming.

I find it absolutely unacceptable that my account has been debited multiple times without the necessary consent. I therefore require the matter to be immediately resolved and all unauthorized debits refunded.

Regrettably, it has taken 4 months to resolve this matter after numerous emails and calls. During this period, all representatives contacted failed to provide feedback or resolve this matter timeously. In the interim, I was inconvenienced when 4 unauthorised debits occurred. To add insult to injury, I am advised that a credit will be passed as opposed to a refund. This will only take place after further 30 day waiting period.

I will cancel all future business with Vodacom and recommend all would be customers to seriously consider their options before doing business with Vodacom.
