Unable to cancel deceased memebers contract
My father passed away over 2 months ago and for the past month I have been trying to cancel his contract. The first time I contacted Vodacom I was directed to email ********** together with the attachments of his death certificate, copy of ID and further instructions in which I asked to cancel the contract. I received a email back (ref: EC-1JBC-3LNF4I) stating that it will take up to 3 working days to resolve the request. I waited over one week for a response and got nothing...
I phoned Vodacom customer care again in which a representative stated that I sent to the correct email ********** but I must use the account number as the subject. So I went back sent the same email and attachments to the same email address only with a different subject being the account number (I ********** -7). I again received a email back stating my request has been captured (ref: EC-1JEN-27NDBB). Waited another week odd and still....NO RESPONSE.
By now this situation is unacceptable and I am growing extremely frustrated by Vodacom's incompetency. SO AGAIN I contact customer care where I get re-directed about 5/6 times. Finally I get through to a representative in the legal department which states I've been sending the request to the incorrect email address. Apparently its not ********** (Which I was told is correct) it is actually ********** So I went ahead sent the same old attachments with the account number to this new email address and guess what? I am still waiting on a response.
Today I got through to the legal department that fianlly gave me a update, stating they had received my last request for cancelation of my fathers contract. The vodacom representative stated that the full amount of the remainding contract will be taken from my fathers estate.
This is ethically immoral as no person is currently or in the future will use the data/minutes on his contract but vodacom is expecting the full amount to come out of the estate?
This is unacceptable.
I look forward to a senior vodacom representative contacting me to explain how it is acceptable to claim the remainder of the contract if the services are unavailable.
