*****ulent sim swap and withdraw
Hello Peter,
Vodacom Case Reference EC-1TLM-2D8DQL/IR-2***
On the 7th of April 2024 an unauthorized sim swap went on my mom's phone and she was de*****ed of her money on the Tymebank account. As an elderly person, she only picked up that her phone did not have network after a day. She asked me to check what was wrong with her phone then we discovered that there was no network signal. We than suspected that mybe there was ***** on her accounts, quickly we went to her Tymebank app and by then it was too late, all her money was gone. We went to details of transactions and we saw that the money was withdrawn by cell phone using (tymecode) cardless withdrawal.
A matter was then reported to SAPS, Tymebank and Vodacom. A sim wap reversal was done and approved by Vodacom and her cell number was active again. An investigation was done by vodacom and yet horrible outcome was given. Upon their investigation (which I have in writing)/Email from Matsie Mthembu of Vodacom Forensic Services they discovered that a sim wap was done via Vodacom Authorized Customer Self-Service Portal which is their robort.
Vodacom have admitted that the sim swap was *****ulent on their report, however they refuse to take full responsibility of lost funds although it has been proven by their investigation that a *****ulent simcard did the withdrawals.
Can This matter be looked at and justice be done
The matter is not resolve, all we want is the money to be paid back. Tymebank has argued that transaction were done using vodacom simcard and they are not responsible for any losses.
My mother is a pensioner who is going through medical procedures she has been in and out of hospital for cancer operations plus she is diabetic. This situation is not helping at all and the last thing I need is this issue.
I don't see a reason why Vodacom is refusing to pay back the money because my mother never did any sim swap.
