*****ulent line opened on account, no action from Vodacom after reporting and submitting all necessary documentation.

I have Vodacom customer for close to 20 years.

I have one fairly basic cellphone / data / handest contract with them, monthly billing of which is normally in the region of R 1 175.

On 25 June 2023, I received a message stating that a new line / phone number had been authorized on my account. I categorically DID NOT open a new line / request anything of the sort.

I reported the *****ulent opening of this line on 082 135, and a brilliant consultant named Malcolm logged the issue and asked me to email ********.

This was duly done, and after some time I received a reply on email with an Affidavit to be completed and returned, along with a copy of my ID.

I comp**** with this request, and sent back the above on 18 July 2023, to which an automated response email confirming receipt was received.

This morning, I received an SMS saying that my upcoming debit order due on the 30th of July 2023, is R 6 000!!!

R 1 175 for MY phone number and R 4 825 for the *****ulent number.

VODACOM, PLEASE CONTACT ME WITHIN 24 HOURS CONFIRMING THAT THE *****ULENT NUMBER HAS BEEN BLOCKED AND THAT CHARGES FOR THAT LINE HAVE BEEN REVERSED.

UPDATE

I have received an email stating that the line has been closed, removed from my account and that any extra charges will be reversed.

Thank you Vodacom for your response, hoping that the extra amount is NOT deducted on 30 July 2023.
