Two and a half months without my smartphone and still not repaired!

I dropped and broke my Sony smartphone early in March. I immediately contacted my insurance company, who required a damage assessment. I took the phone into Vodacom repairs Nelspruit on 11 March, where they said it would be sent off for a quote. When I received the quote I forwarded it to my insurance company, who paid the money for the repair (less excess) into my bank account. I made a payment of R2261.19 to Vodacom om 8 April and emailed proof of payment to ***. Approximately a week later I received a phone call from Vodacom in ERMELO, saying they had my quote. I was surprised and said that I had paid for repair already and I had Dropped off the phone in at Nelspruit. She said she didnt know what was going on and would forward the quote to Nelspruit. When the quote was emailed to me, it was for a different job number and the amount had increased to R2512.77. I phoned Vodacom Nelspruit to find out what was going on, and they said that the original quote had been for 5 days only, and that was why there had been a change. I felt an increase of more than R250 over a period of two weeks was unreasonable, but I paid the additional amount in on 25th April and forwarded proof of payment to Ruth Muller at Vodacom Nelspruit. I was assured that my phone would be repaired and be available within a week.

On 3rd May I received a telephone call to state that my phone was ready for collection. When I arrived to collect it, the screen was still cracked, and the phone had not been repaired at all. By this time, the phone had been sent back and forth to Johannesburg three times, I had received TWO different quotations and made TWO payments to Vodacom for repair. Today the phone is being sent BACK to the repair centre in Johannesburg.

After my experiences to date, I am expecting that they will take 10 days to give me another quote of an even higher amount, and then send the phone back to Nelspruit without repairing it. I am frankly furious and frustrated. I have been without my phone since 3 March, and I still have no idea when Vodacom will be able to get their act together sufficiently to actually do the repairs that I have already PAID FOR... TWICE!

Yes a consultant contacted me two days ago. But.... I now received a message that "Job number ***0 is currently in the assessment process at the Advanced Repair Centre." So, as expected, it appears we have have started the entire process all over again, with a new job number. Despite the fact that this phone has already previously been assessed twice and the repairs paid for. So no actual progress here.

May 17th: 6 days later - just received a phone call from Vodacom asking whether I paid for the repairs to this phone. When I said I did, the lady asked where the proof of payment was sent as there was still an amount of R200-and-something outstanding. Is it possible that RUTH MULLER did not forward my proof of payment to anyone? Follow this thread for more annoying news.....
