Trying to cancel contract

I went our local Vodacom Store to cancel my contract that had for more that 10 years. I was told to phone a number they gave me on on the 7 December 2016 to cancel my contract. I phoned that number on the day and had a recorded conversation, I was told that my contract will be cancelled at the end of December and that I should turn my phone of on the 31 December 2016 till the 1 January 2017 for 24 hours and that there after my contract will be pay as you go. I did do that and when I turned my phone on again thinking I now had to put on air time before I could use it, contract was still active. I since phoned a few times and was told that someone will phone me back. I was phone back once and when I aswered in Afrikaans I was told that I will be phone again when someone speaking Afrikaans is available to help me. I am still waiting. I am disappointed because as a loyal customer for so long I expected better service. I expected my contract to be cancelled as agreed and second, to be phoned back sooner. I am really reconsidering staying with Vodacom
