Trust Vodacom fiber at your own risk.
After months of searching for a job I finally received positive feedback with an offer of employment in the beginning of October which was subject to me getting fiber installation.
When I noticed that Vodacom was among the fiber providers in my area I immediately thought to myself that a brand as big as Vodacom would give me the most professional and honest service in my quest to get fiber installation.
I called my nearest Vodacom store which is Vodacom Woodmead. The sales representative was happy to assist me with my fiber contract application. Before we could go any further I explained that having this installation on time would determined if I start my new employment in November or not. He explained that the normal waiting time is around 7-21 working days. I was happy to proceed with this application as it was still early in October and there was a high possibility that my fiber will be installed by the first week of November.
My application was approved and a Vodacom router was sent to me the next day. I waited and waited for weeks for my fiber installation. Nothing was said about my installation or even the interim LTE WIFI they promise to customers while they wait for fiber. I also did not ask about the LTE WIFI as my biggest priority was to get fiber installed on time so that I can finally start employment at the begging of November.
I started getting nervous yesterday and called the sales rep that had assisted with my application to find out how far was my installation process since we were in the last week of October and I needed the line to be ready by the first week of November. He asked me to call Vodacom fiber department and gave me an order reference number. I did not hesitate in doing that as the status of my employment is dependent on me getting this fiber connection. Upon calling Vodacom fiber they gave me an order reference number and told me that I should call Vuma who are responsible for the installation. I immediately called Vuma only to find out that Vodacom had not even made a request for my installation with Vuma. I called the Vodacom fiber division again this time with greater panic as I understood that this could mean that my work contract would be terminated if I do not have fiber line installed by the end of this week.
I explained my frustration to the Vodacom fiber consultant and she promised me that she would escalate the matter on my behalf. I also contacted my sales representative again to try and find out if there is nothing he can do and all he did was to give me an apology for how my order was handled.
Today I called Vodacom fiber again, i was directed to Vuma upon giving Vuma my ID number and address they told me that they still cant pick my order up and asked me to call SADV and Vuma village to find out from them, mind you I am still doing all this with my airtime. Upon calling SDV they told me to go back to Vodacom as they cant deal with me directly.
Unfortunately no one form Vodacom can seem to help me with following up my installation, all I have received was an apology , I am left with five days to get fiber or my contract will be terminated before I can even start my new work and all I get is a "we are sorry to hear that sir".
I have never felt so much pain before, Vodacom incompetency in this regard might has cost me a job which I took over six months to find. I would have appreciated if they told me to go to another provider while there was still time for me to find a reliable provider.
Right now all I have is a bunch of order reference numbers from Vodacom but no one is taking responsibility to tell me what the status of my order is or even the initiative to try and escalade this process for me to get fiber. I no longer know what to do or who to call.
