Total Mess with "Double Deal" iPhone 8 Contract Order
I app**** for a special deal advertised by Vodacom on 01/12/2022, online. Immediately received an autogenerated quote. The deal was for 2 x iPhone 8 256G with one contract for R469/mth (a "double deal"). Seemed like a good deal. I struggled for days to get someone from Vodacom to call me back to confirm this deal. I called and left notes every day from Monday 5th to Wednesday 7th. Apparently the "confirmations dept" has to call you, you can not call them or be put through to them from ANY consultant in any other dept. They called me on the 8th, Thursday and confirmed. I immediately received a PDF quote and an SMS thanking me for choosing Vodacom for my new contract. The gentleman from the confirmations dept assured me my product was on its way to me. I then heard nothing and received no delivery. On Wednesday 14th I called again to follow up: the operator informed me that the special "double deal" had been cancelled by Vodacom so I would not be receiving anything. She apologised for my frustrations, to which I rep**** that I was beyond frustrated, but had reached "livid". She said she would "escalate" this and call me back as soon as she had received a reply e-mail, but could not give me a reference number or an expected timeline. I called back on Thursday morning 15th, at 08h00. Which is now as I write this. I have been on the line for approx. 1hr 40min and have spoken to three different levels of operator/supervisor/manager and the message is the same: they are sorry but the dal has been cancelled.
I also spoke to the sales dept. They tell me that the special "double deal" was terminated by Vodacom on the 7th. However, I recieved confirmation on the 8th. Now a single iPhone 8 256G with the same contract costs R309/mth. I am willing to to this just to get what I need.
However, this sequence of events is shameful of Vodacom. I have been with Vodacom for decades, has the same number for about 20years, have always given them the best aftersales reviews (responding willingly to their SMS prompts). In over 20years, I could not be more disappointed in their poor communication and ineffectiveness in resolving this issue which is clearly an internal mess! If there were negative stars here above, as opposed to only a 1 to 5 option, I would go as far left as I could.
I have literally been on the line since 08H00 this morning, either actually on call or waiting for call backs. Essentially my day is totally sterilised with this issue. You are trying to make contact on Twitter as well, asking me to verify my ID after asking for a DM.
One particular operator is doing all she can to assist, but no resolution in site. Again I request high-level intervention, and for someone to take the trouble to call me on my mobile number, ***.
What I have discovered is this:
The operator I spoke to yesterday informed me of the "double deal" termination by you, and consequently the cancellation of my order/deal/quote/pending contract. However, since she tried to escalate this and sent the e-mail on to the confirmations department, this order is now marked as "pending". For this reason I am frozen at this stage as with a pending application I cannot/may not try to apply for the single iPhone 8 256G x 2 contracts @ R309 each; and even if I cancel this pending contract, I would have to wait 3 months before applying again. So now, not only have you wasted 2 weeks, but threaten to waste another 3 months more.
So again, please can someone intervene?

The saga continues...
So last week after this review and my Twitter action, someone calls me: they say the basic reason for "terminating" the double deal is that Vodacom is out of stock. They will look and get back to me by 20th Jan.
Now yesterday, given the information the sales dept provided me, as described above (I can't cancel one the deal and change to another without a 3 month waiting period), someone from Vodacom calls me and asks if I still want to do the "single deal" @ R309/mth?
My reply was simple: how is this now possible considering what I was told last week? Naturally I would be interested, but also considering they are out of stock, how can they offer this to me? Well this totally floundered the operator and she said she would get back to me.
To now, 11h30, no-one has offered any further information. Silly season, indeed, for Vodacom!
