Thinking Vodacom Fibre? Rather go with Vox or Afrihost.

My mother-in-law wanted to get Fibre and we compared the quotes from Vodacom, Afrihost and Vox and decided to go with Vodacom because they were marginally cheaper and they offered an interim LTE solution.

We ordered the fibre online on 6 January 2022 for a 20 Mbps fibre package. A router and LTE ****le were delivered quite quickly via courier. The understanding being that the LTE ****le would be the stop-gap between placing the order and getting the fibre installed. Well that is the theory anyway.

The LTE has never worked, we have phoned Vodacom 4 times since 6 January 2022. Twice we have been told that the LTE is an interim internet solution but the call centre weren't able to get it to work and twice that the LTE is the backup solution only once the fibre is installed. Why this is uncertain and can't be checked definitively on the Vodacom side is beyond me.

Regardless, what we actually want is fibre. Here we are 20 business days later, nobody has phoned to book installation and we have no idea of what the status is despite numerous phone calls to Vodacom. We're going to cancel and shift to Afrihost or Vox as we've had enough.

Can't say I'm surprised but still haven't gotten a reply even after the commitment from Vodacom above. The procedure to try and cancel seems to be almost as painful as trying to get the fibre installed ... Looking forward to being with Vox and avoiding all this.
