Think twice before buying laptop through Vodacom!

We ordered a Lenovo Ideapad via Vodacom Online on 18 Jul 2013. 4 months ago the laptop refused to start up and I only received a blue error screen. As it is still under warranty we took it in to the Vodacom store in Somerset Mall. They refused to accept it as they are not a repair centre and advised that I contact SOS Mobile or take it to Vodacom repair centre in Tygervalley Centre. I contacted SOS Mobile and they advised that they do not deal with Lenovo laptops. Consequently I took to it to the repair centre in Tygervalley which also refused to accept it as they only repair cellphones. They advised that I should take it to Partserve in Montague Gardens as they do warranty repairs on Lenovo laptops. Arriving at Partserve they were unable to assist as Vodacom never updated the warranty start date with the actual purchase date, which means that on their side it states that the laptop are out of warranty. As per Partserve this happens frequently to Vodacom customers arriving with warranty claims ( when I walked in the first question was if I am a Vodacom customer , clearly then a regular occurrence). They referred me back to Vodacom to update the warranty with my purchase date, thus I went to Vodacom store in Canal Walk where they refused to assist as the laptop was purchased via Vodacom Online and advised that I call Vodacom customer care which I did. Customer care advised that I take the laptop to a Vodacom store as they do not deal with warranty claims, with this the vicious circle was completed and I was back at square one. I explained to the customer care agent all the steps that I have already taken and I then got transferred from one department to the next until I reached someone that was very willing to assist however advised me that the warranty cannot be updated by them, Partserve should do it themselves as the tax invoice that I had with me when I visited Partserve should be sufficient support to update the warranty. As clearly can be seen above no one is willing to take responsibility, meanwhile there is still 18 months left on my contract which I will be paying for something that no one is willing to fix. I have been a Vodacom customer for more than 15 years and have always received good service, this time around it was unfortunately the opposite. I will not be purchasing a laptop through Vodacom again.
