Theft of cellphone

My phone was ****** a few months ago at Greenstone Mall. Immediately after it was ****** I went to the vodacom shop in the mall to have my old number deactivated. We met with a consultant and he said that my number was now deactivated. Today I notice in whatsapp my old number is now active and has someone else using it. Numerous important accounts were linked to that number, as I stressed at the store. Why is it not deactivated?

Number : ********** 052
