Theft of air time

My wife and I went overseas on the 7th June 2017. We landed in Dubai and she checked her airtime using the USSD codes. At no time did we activate mobile data or make any phone calls on her phone. The response indicated there was a about R 300.00, Data was about 489mb and SMS 170.

We went onto the free wifi at Dubai airport and sent a few Whats App messages using the wifi.

When we arrived in London the next day she attempted to send an SMS to her mom but was not able to. We then used the USSD code again to check balances and suddenly the airtime was R 0.00. We left the Uk on the 25th June and checked the balance when we got home. No phone calls were made or received by the handset in the time we were away and only Whats App messages sent in the wifi zones of B and B facilities. The balance was still R 0.00. I then contacted the call center and was given some long rambling story about internet and SMS usage that had depleted the air time. I suggested that this was nonsense as internet is data related and not airtime. The query was escalated and suddenly R 200.00 of the R 300.00 airtime was returned to the phone. The cynic in me queries theft of airtime by insiders but I have no proof. This is not the first time we have had this problem with Vodacom.
