The worst service ever from VODACOM!
The worst service ever. I bought a Vodacom kicka 4 phone while I am waiting for my device with my other network. Only to find that this phone only uses a Vodacom sim card. Something the pep salespeople didn't inform me of when I bought the phone. I've never used Vodacom in my entire life so I don't really know much about their products. I also haven't used prepaid for about 10 years so I have never heard of such a thing. So I inserted my telling sim card when I got home and I was met with a message requesting a 16 digit PIN code as the network is locked. So u first tried my Puk because I was not sure what the issue was. I then called my service provider because I thought my contract sim was locked from other devices, although I've never experienced this before with the network I've been with for about 4 contract terms. My service provider then confirmed that my sim is active, not restricted and does not require any codes. She asked what phone i am using, I told her and she said the network locked it and I must call Vodacom for the pin. So I called Vodacom. First I spoke to a rude junior consultant who didn't know what I was talking about and eventually I asked to speak to his manager. The manager knew what I was referring to and said I must go to a vodacom shop. So I went to the one at keywest mall. I explained to the technician why I am there and he sent me back to telkom without even doing anything. I walked to the telling in the mall and the technician there tried my simcard in different devices and different sim card rdss in this vodacom phone and came to the same conclusion that it is a network restriction. So I walked back to vodacom where, after waiting and people behind me being helped first I was again with the technician, who not only was arrogant but displayed an attitude of not wanting to assist. Nobody in the shop knew what I was talking about, and they, therefore, concluded that there is no such thing and that this phone only uses a Vodacom sim card and their recommendation is the I continue to only use a Vodacom sim card. In what world does one pay money for a phone and then gets told to only use one network sim card? This was never displayed as a feature of the phone along with the other specs diaplayed. I was subsequently subjected to a lecture about how they are just a franchise and Vodacom is the one who answers to such network issues and I must call the head office again, as they can't do it from the shop. I am appalled at the level of incompentence throughout my interaction with Vodacom. This is a very simple problem and I still have no solution, which at this point is taking this phone back but why should I have to be doing this up and down when all I need is a 16 digit unlock code. Utter nonsense!!
