The way vodacom handles airtime needs to change.
Vodacom Brands themselves as a company that thrives on being customer centric. With being customer centric you understand that mistakes do happen and have procedures to correct these mistakes.
Long story short I made a mistake, I brought more airtime than I will need in the near future. I contacted Vodacom hoping that there is a way around this. Their response to me was to go to a local shop and try and transfer the airtime to them for cash.
I asked if there is not a possibility of transferring the cash to my Vodapay wallet and they said it is not possible.
I understand the mistake was on my end. However, it feels like Vodacom has intentionally made it so money doesn't leave their network without a lot of hassle. This is with their branding of making sending money as easy as possible.
I still dont understand how it is legal to not have a refund policy for a set period for airtime if purchased through your bank. I would understand if there was a penalty/charge for this but the lack of options seems like a slap in the face to their customers.
If vodacom wants to expand Vodapay, it might be worthwhile to look into the option to transfer airtime to your vodapay wallet at a small fee. You are already half way there with allowing third party vendors such as Microsoft and Netflix to use your airtime as a payment method, so why not permit that with your own services?
My only avenue at this point is to hopefully get some people to buy the airtime off of me but that is probably not going to happen.
