The "System" Did It, It Was An "Error"...

I went into a Vodacom store yesterday to upgrade my contract. The consultant in store showed me the deals and the prices and I opted for a certain package which comes with an extra gigabyte of data, each month, for 24 months, at (allegedly) no extra cost. She proceeded to generate the quote (for which an SMS was sent to my phone in confirmation therof) and she began the paperwork. She brought me the phone from the stockroom, all very exciting right? She give me forms to sign regarding the warranty etc etc. However, once signed, as I'm about to pick up my new device and leave, she gives me the primary contract papers together with the other documents (which she has not shown me yet) on the front of which detail the billing that will be charged per month for the duration of the contract term. I glance at the front and notice that the amount is well above the price she had quoted me. In fact, Vodacom had charged an extra (approximately) R150.00 for the extra gigabyte of data. I then picked up all the documents I had initialed and signed and put them in my folder and told her that when she sorts it out correctly I will come back with the documents, failing which, I will take my business to a competing network (where I will most likely receive better service). Throughout the next 6 hours I called the store several times to follow up on progress of resolution and I'm told that its a "system error" but can't be resolved and has to be escalated to the accounts department or some other story. To be honest, I genuinely felt like I was being ****med into putting my signature onto a contract at a price varied from that quoted and agreed to. I believe that a request for reparations is not out of order, Vodacom. You lot would never have released me from that contract without a penalty had I signed and not noticed. An offer of goodwill should be forthcoming. And to top it all off, I have to pay an upgrade fee and a transfer fee (I took ownership of the number over from a business account), what a farce of customer service and honesty.

Be careful and check and recheck what they're giving you to sign. I dodged a fairly large sized bullet here.
