Terrible so called "service"

My husband and I visited the Eastgate Vodacom walk-in centre during November 2016 and paid up three of our Vodacom contracts. Our specific instructions as per the forms submitted were that the numbers would be then available for us on pre-paid. Two weeks later, our contracts had still not been cancelled and we made our second trip to the Eastgate store. The manager assisted us and that same day, my contract was converted to prepaid. My husband's number however did not convert to prepaid, but rather, his cellphone just stopped working. When contacting the call centre, he was advised (after many calls which took many hours), a variety of different things, from the fact that his number had actually been deleted off the Vodacom system, to the fact that the contract had not actually been cancelled (despite the fact that he was unable to use it) to the fact that he had to now request the number to be reactivated so that it could be re-cancelled (at of course a fee of R300.00). The other number had the same issue. My husband made a trip to the Vodcacom Centre in the Newmaket Park area and was advised that his number had in fact been deleted from the Vodacom system. He then had to purchase a pre-paid sim card just to be able to use his phone. This was now after weeks of not having the use of his phone. I directed several emails to the complaints email box and was requested to submit the cancellation documentation, which my husband then did. No response was received whatsoever. My husband went for the third time to the Vodacom store in Eastgate and the manager advised him that it was actually an IT issue and that he would see to it that it was sorted out. Later that day, his phone finally worked. This, after WEEKS of speaking to *********** staff who did not know what was actually happening, were at times rude and extremely unhelpful (at call centre level, including supervisors). This morning, Vodacom decided it would be fit to pass a debit order entry on my husband's account of over R1 000.00. This on a contract which is cancelled and which he had paid IN FULL? When I looked at my own Vodacom statement, it appears that the money I paid into my account to cancel the contract was simply credited and the debit order amount each month subsequent thereto, just debited against the account. This obviously will mean that when the credit runs out, a further debit order will be debited to my account.
Is this how Vodacom does business? Is this customer service? Is this how Vodacom's mission statement is carried out? If this was you, would you accept this so-called "service"?
I have sent an email and Tweet to the Vodacom CEO as well regarding these issues.
