Terrible service at the Vodacom Chatsworth Centre store!
I recently purchased a tempered glass for a new Samsung Galaxy Note 9. I went into the store located at the Chatsworth Centre and requested for a tempered glass screen protector for the Note 9. I was shown the Body Glove 3D film screen protector and the Body Glove Ultra Tempered Glass. I had used Body Glove previously on my Samsung S8+ so I was fami**** with the product and happy with the quality of it so I chose the tempered glass as it would afford better protection than the film. I was told to switch my phone off and the consultant app**** the glass to my phone. I paid R500.00 for this tempered glass. During this process, I was not warned that the tempered glass I had chosen had a black border which would create issues with fully utilising my phone. After the screen protector was installed, I had a problem with switching my phone back on so I walked out of the shop.
After switching my phone on and using it, I realised that the screen protector's black border actually decreased the size of my screen by approximately 4mm! Also, because of the black border, I cannot see the bar for the edge screen and I cannot see the scroll that is normally used when scrolling through contacts, emails or messages. I did not have this problem with the product on the previous phone. I went back to the store to complain about the product that they are selling and was told that there is nothing that they can do to help me as I chose the product. My issue with Vodacom is that they are supposed to advise customers on what they are purchasing as we as customers are not aware of what is most suitable for the phone that we buy. Especially when it is a new phone and you are not even used to it, how are you meant to "know" what will be most suitable?? This is what I was told by the consultant at the store when I went to ask for a return. She told me that they as Vodacom have no dealings with the product and cannot do return or a refund. This consultant was extremely rude and abrupt and refused to assist any further. She even went on to say that when I came into the shop I should have specified that I wanted a screen protector that will allow me to use the edge screen. Shouldn't this be common sense? Why would I buy a phone that has this function and not want to use it??? Why would I apply a screen protector that will inhibit vital functions on my phone?
My argument is how can Vodacom sell a product claiming that it is suitable for a particular phone when it clearly isn't! This does not allow the user to fully utilise the phone. This product shouldn't even be on the shelf at a Vodacom store. They should be stocking assessories that are suitable with the phone and will allow the user to make full use of their phone. This product was priced at R500.00 which I have now lost out on and I have to keep using my phone with limited capabilities as I am not going to pay an additional cost for another screen protector which are normally priced around the same range of R500.00 or more.
I am extremely disappointed with the service that I received at the store that I am considering cancelling my Vodacom contract and moving to another network that will be able to provide me with a better service. This is not the first time that I had a bad incident with this store at the Chatsworth Centre. Previously I had gone into the store to inquire about a new contract and I was made to wait 45 minutes. And another time I went into the store to find out about putting a cap on my contract and the staff were very abrupt and unhelpful and just referred me to the call centre.
Now I am stuck with an expensive phone that is difficult to use. All I would like is if Vodacom could give me refund and remove this product from my phone.
A seriously disgruntled customer.
