Terrible service

I have been very patient with vodacom and regretably even renewed my contract with them this year, a mistake I will not make again.

I handed my phone in for repairs (LCD screen was cracked) on 21/07/2016. I was told it would take 7-14 working days for it to be repaired. I filled out and sent all the necessary paperwork regarding the insurance etc and was under the impression that everything was sorted and I just had to wait for it to be repaired. After two weeks (on 05/08/2016) I received a msg that my phone was ready for collection. After I drove all the way to the shop, they told me my phone was not fixed, nothing was done to my phone even though they kept it for all that time because there was an insurance problem. Even though I have VODACOM insurance!?! And was never informed about a problem and therefore could not address it. Turns out it didn't need to be addressed they were just slow to accept the quote for the repair (despite the fact that it is internal vodacom insurance and not from an external party!)

So then on the 06/08/2016 my phoned was booked in for repair again. I was told it would take 7-14 working days. Today only on the 01/09/2016 (almost 4weeks later), do I get a message that my phone is ready for collection. Upon arrival, it looked promising. LCD screen was fixed. Payed R280 for a new tempered glass screen cover (after they broke my completely intact and unscathed screen cover upon initial receipt of the phone) and payed the insurance excess of R900 and extra R103 for the data back up. When the sales lady tried to switch on my phone it said "iphone disabled. Try again in 15mins".

Turns out there is a software problem. After they had my phone for three extra days to upgrade my software and back up my data ,that I actually paid for. So now I have paid R 1 280 and my phone had to be booked in for repairs AGAIN!

They have had my phone since 21/7/2016, a phone that I pay for monthly but cannot use due to their incompetence. They have made me pay for a back up which apparently failed. They made me pay for a new tempered glass screen that was broken by them when I booked my phone in for the first time. And I'm paying for vodacom insurance that is supposed to make things easier but is only causing problems!

And this is not even to mention an incident last year where they had my phone for about 6 months for an LCD screen repair after which they eventually had to give me a brand new phone because they had LOST my original one!!

If any one is thinking of starting/switching to a vodacom contract, I strongly advise against it.

Correction: they didn't make me pay for a back up, I chose to pay for a data back up when I initially booked the phone in for repairs. Apparently another poor choice on my part.

So after this generic reply, I got a brief phone call on 2 September asking if I'd received my phone and whether it's working, which I obviously didn't since no days had passed since I had to book it in for repairs again. I was told they would follow up and get back to me. Which they didn't.
I was also told by the staff of vodacom tygervalley that my phone would be made priority and be done in two days (i.e. it should've been fixed yesterday), and after phoning them twice for updates and told they would get back to me, I still haven't heard anything nor do I have my phone.
If it were possible to rate less than one star, it would still be more than vodacom deserves.
