Terrible experience at Vodacom Canal Walk
I’ve had the one of the worst client experiences at Vodacom to date, both instore and online. I had app**** for a contract on the Vodacom website on 03/03/2026. The call centre agent then contacted me to process the application. Vetting was done but the agent had already captured the application without porting my number. She refused to be of assistance and said that there’s nothing that she can do to assist. Absolutely rude. A sales agent, not a customer representative. About an hour later, I then opted for a new number, not by choice but by force. Apparently only the agent who assisted me could proceed with my application so I had to wait for her to become available. I then opted for a call back where I was told that though the vetting was completed, they are not out of stock and cannot fulfill the device. When asked if this deal was available instore, I was told that it is an online exclusive deal. I then asked to speak to the supervisor who asked that I go to the istore to ask them if they can assist in issuing out the device, which I did. I’ve worked in cellular before and know that this is impossible since these are two separate business entities. I confirmed that this was not possible after walking to the store and the supervisor further asked me to go back to ask them why then cannot assist. I would think that the why is quite logical. That same evening I then went to Canal walk Vodacom where the first store sales consultant told me that the deal was also available instore but they do not have stock. I then asked if I can order the phone but with no eye contact throughout the conversation, the sales consultant asked me to check at the Vodacom 4u store first. After visiting the Vodacom 4u store, the first sales consultant told me that they have stock but cannot assist until I cancel the online application. He then went on to assist other clients. I then got to the second consultant who told me the same thing. I think proceeded to call and cancel the application on my own. Only after about 15-20 minutes, did the sales consultant use his device to assist me. We then proceeded with the order on the second vetting and we had to wait for number port. The same evening, I was told to drive back to the mall because everything is in order and I may collect the device. After waiting over 20-30 minutes for assistance, I was told that there’s a system issue and we cannot proceed with contract finalization. I was called on 05/03/26 stating that they are sorry and that the contract will be sorted and device ready for collection by Saturday. Previously I was told that the device can only be held for 24 hours in store, even after if my contract is approved and ready for collection. Now, the 06/03/26, I’ve driven back to the area to collect the device this evening and I’m told that there’s still a system issue. The Application was cancelled and redone. Now a 3rd vetting that I did not approve which again has a system issue and I am told that I will only get an answer on Monday. Where is the client experience that Vodacom once had? Where are the support staff? If my contract is approved, why is Vodacom making this process so difficult?
