Terrible app, and site, and service

I recently typed in my phone PIN incorrectly a few times and had to enter my PUK number. I remembered that it was available on myvodacom so logged into the app, then the web site. A PUK was displayed but wouldn't work when I typed it in. Next day I went to a Vodacom shop.

When they heard I was trying to use the app their response was "Julle is darem maar lief om daai app te probeer". So I rep**** "Ja, hy werk nie". The response? "Ons weet...". This was not the end of the world but I was a bit annoyed. If anyone has tried to use the stupid app, you will immediately know how frustrating it is to work with.

Then my son leaves for hostel and runs out of data. No problem, we'll just recharge his data using *111#. We get a message "phone 082 111 to activate this option for your number". So that's exactly what we do but first we need to answer a few security questions.

1) Cell number? Easy, no problem

2) ID number? Easy, no problem

3) E-mail address? I have five e-mail addresses so give the two I think are most likely

4) What plan are you on?

Me: I don't know, when I took out the contract two years ago I selected one, I can't remember. You have a lot of friggin plans. Do people memorize this?

<Call center awkward silence>

I can tell you the phone we took was a Samsung Note...?

Call center: Sir, sir ... we need the plan please

Me: I have no clue

5) How much did we deduct from your account last month?

Me: I don't know, you deduct via debit order and I don't check or memorize the amounts.

<Call center awkward silence>

Me: <Sarcastic> This is ridiculous, do you want me to log into my Internet banking and check?

Call center: Yes please sir

Me: Are you serious? You know which number I'm phoning from, you can see it.

<Call center awkward silence>

Me: Ok, I'm logging in.

Me: (after checking amount) Ok, you deducted exactly x,***.xx on the 31st of December

Call center: Sir the system indicates that you got 3 of the 5 responses wrong, you will have to go into a branch.

Me: That's impossible, which ones did I get wrong?

Call center: I can't see, the system just shows the score

Me: No ways! Ok, so what now?

Call center: You have to go to a branch.

Me: I need to recharge my son's phone tonight...?

Call center: Sorry sir, your account is locked. We can't do anything further for you.

So Vodacom, I appreciate your effort to be secure ... but your security questions and process are ridiculous.

I've been with you for over 10 years and I've never given you hassles...

...but the ONE time I need something from you, you fail. No plan B, no other way to prove who I am, just tough S**T. That sucks, you suck, so I'll be cancelling my wife's contract with you that is now up for renewal. ...and when my contract is up, I will cancel that too.
