Telephonic Upgrade an Unpleasant Experience and Near Inpossible to Reverse
On 30 August 2017 a Vodacom agent phoned me offering to upgrade our 2 phones and data ****le offering reduced rates as I am over 70 and an old customer. Unfortunately the person spoke so fast that it was impossible to follow him most of the time, I often requested him to talk slower without much success. Unfortunately I agreed to the offer, as I felt browbeaten by his verbal tirade. After the call was terminated I realised that I do not want the upgrade as firstly it does not include replacement phones and also we are going to change to fiber optic cable shortly. I immediately phoned back requesting the call center (after phoning several numbers) and requested that this transaction be cancelled. Unfortunately the upgrade had already been processed and the call was logged for someone to attend to my request. I received a SMS with a reference number and option to logon to www.vodacom.co.za/help , I did this and get linked to a self service portal that cannot call up the reference number. I have in the meantime managed to establish that the request for reversal of the upgrade has been done, but this I will only be able to verify upon receipt of my next account. The end of last month my statement was R394.74 higher than normal as I had been debited with an upgrade admin fee of R131.58 for each number I have - I was never advised of this cost. I have again been in contact with Vodacom Cancellations and they have again logged my request, but it takes 14 working days for anything to happen with them, and they do not contact the customer to explain what they have done or are going to do. The only notification I got on the upgrade reversal was that my query has been closed. I have tried visiting the local Vodacom agent at Tygervalley, but they are unable to assist. I feel that Vodacom do not take their customers problems to heart as it is difficult to communicate with them, and they have no email facility where customers can log calls.
