Sudden excessive data charges

So this Saturday past I start getting messages from Vodacom telling me how much data I have used. The morning on Saturday 24/12/2016 i loaded 1 GB of data and at 6.11pm I got the first message to say I have used all my data. Then every 1 min or so I get another message to say that I have used a certain rand value of data which finally ended on R900. This after I loaded the 1 GB of data that very morning. This all happened right in front of me while I have my phone with me. I called into the call centre the next day to see if I could get the problem solved but who was I kidding as it turned out to be a nightmare. Lebo was the person I dealt with if I can remember correctly but all she could say is that my auto updates are reason i used my Data which is a load of ****. I have been an iPhone user for many years and the one thing i always ensure is that nothing updates without my permission. The best of all is that I got these messages from vodacome while I was connected to my home Wi-Fi. The other issue I have is that this happened to my wife about a year ago and then to my surprize i hear this happening to many others out there when this subjuct comes up in conversation. Vodacom I want this resolved asap and i will block your debit order this month and will not pay you until you have solved this issue. Why does this keep happening to everyone? How is is possible for me to use 1 GB of data and R900 out of bundle data usage in only 7mins. All this while connected to my home WiFi and with no auto updates set on my phone. I want answers!!!
