Subscription ****s

Lately there have been an increase of subscription ****s, most notably service like Mobile Academy (http://fc.mobileacademy.com) and airG Gold to name two of my personal experiences. Now I work in the IT inviroment, so I know when not to click links and how fishing ****s work etc. I have never even come acros a suggestion or advert for these two services let alone subribed to them. And then you get a opt out sms where you can cancel the service you did not subscribe to... AT 2 OR 3 AM!!!! So you are almost gauranteed to loose some money. Unless you missed the sms, then you can loose alot of money.

Go to your local Vodacom store and they just shrugg, show you how to send an sms to opt out to all and say this is actually your fault as you msut have clicked a link or something somewhere.

My question is this: With all the complaints, and you need only do a little digging on this site to find numerous examples, why haven't Vodacom chagned their API to verify subscription charges? And I don't mean the useless sms you get after the fact when you are already liable.

Now they might say that these are small amounts and most people will not bother too much, but 1 cent ****** from milions still amount to some large figures. And it is not the 3rd party company that sends you the bill. No it is Vodacom. And what about the eldery and uninformed? How many people are being charged for services they did not request and for amounts low enough that they don't notice.

So with complaints that stretch as far as a year back or more, how is this still hapening? How hard is it to build in a step to ensure that subscriptions are valid. They are using negilgence to take money from clients and Vadcom does what? Nothing:

https://www.hellopeter.com/vodacom/reviews/charged-for-services- **********
https://www.hellopeter.com/vodacom/reviews/********-billing-by-vodacom-airg-gold- **********
https://www.hellopeter.com/vodacom/reviews/vodacom-airg-spam-smses-and-********-billing- **********
https://www.hellopeter.com/vodacom/reviews/*******-vodacom-airg-gold-subscription- **********
https://www.hellopeter.com/vodacom/reviews/charged-for-services- **********
https://www.hellopeter.com/vodacom/reviews/mobile-academy-charges-no-accountability- **********
https://www.hellopeter.com/vodacom/reviews/gameon-and-mobile-acadamy-*******-subscriptions- **********

How much publicity do we need to generate before this is looked at? And not just by some 1st level support who doesn't even have any chance of resolving this.

So guess what? On a lovely Sunday morning at around 1:30 am I received the following sms: “Welcome to Vodacom airG! First day FREE the R2/day. Click here to continue: http://airg.com/vcga or Click here to Unsubscribe http://live.vodafone.com/unsub.” How many times am I going to have to go through this? I am seriously contemplating switching to another service provider. I have been with Vodacom since I first got a cellphone but this is just driving me over the wall.

By the way, that lovely reply that Vodacom sent to my review… Yip you guesses it, no one has contacted me at all. Just a msg they post to make it look like they are proactive. Is there a way to give a 0/5 rating?

So after going to a Vocacom store and asking them to help me remove all subscription services from my number, guess what. I get my invoice this month and lo and behold a charge for R130 for Harvest Frenzy. What the hell is that? Another one. How useless is Vodacom? And by the way "contact with you in due course to assist with your query", never hapened. Lots of false promises.
