Stuck in a data contract... can't switch to Top-Up

Two weeks ago I switched from MTN prepaid to a Vodacom contract. The consultant at Cellucity Melrose Arch briefly explained the difference between Top-Up and ordinary data contracts. However, I was under the impression the whole time that, even on an ordinary data contract, I would be able to purchase another bundle in the event that I reached my 2GB cap. I also figured that, since I have Wi-Fi both at home and at work, the cap would be sufficient.

Less than two weeks into my contract, I get an SMS notifying me that my bundle is exhausted and that I am now using out-of-bundle data at an alarming rate. I try to configure my cellphone settings to WI-FI ONLY whereever possible, but it seems I'm still using mobile data.

What's worse, when I went back to Cellucity today and they explain to me the actual nature of my data contract, I find out I can only switch to Top-Up after three months.

Surely there must be a way out of this?

Regards

Nico Geldenhuys
