Struggling to port to Vodacom contract
On the 6th October 2017 i went to Vodacom menlyn (shop LF45) to get a cellphone contract. I filled in the required forms and asked the sales consultant whether it would be possible to keep my MTN number. The sales consultant recorded my MTN number and advised that Vodacom will initiate a port from MTN to the Vodacom service provider which should be concluded by the 9th October 2017. However the consulted mentioned their unavailability on the 9th October 2017, hence we agreed that i would come for collection on the 11th October 2017.
I collected the cellphone on the 11th October 2017, where i was assisted by another sales consultant, who advised that by midnight i would have been successfully ported to Vodacom. This is where the nightmare started. On the 12th October 2017 I was still on the MTN network, I contacted the sales consultant to make him aware of the situation. I was again assured that by midnight the porting will be completed. On the 13th October 2017, i was still operating on the MTN network. I have made countless trips to Vodacom menlyn and have contacted Vodacom head office and the porting department to no assistance.
On the 14th October 2017 i went to Vodacom menlyn to return the cellphone and cancel the contract as Vodacom failed to assist me. The store manager offered to assist with the porting, however my cellphone number is now operating on two service providers namely MTN and Vodacom. Calls from the Vodacom network are directed to the Vodacom sim card and calls from other networks are directed to the MTN sim card.
Porting takes 24 hours however Vodacom clearly failed in this regard. I regret initiating a Vodacom contract as it is clear that they have no regard for customer satisfaction.
