Struggling to cancel onerous contracts for my purposes

I have been struggling to cancel a contract since 21 September 2020, and nobody in the cancellations department could help me in 7 weeks, until yesterday that I was basically forced to take out new products in order to reduce the price of contracts that I do not really need at this stage in my life. How hard is it to cancel a contract which has run its length almost a year ago? Is anybody going to compensate me for the incompetence of the cancellations department who could not even cancel a simple contract for me in the past 7 weeks? The first time I called, I got some of my security questions wrong, and the person was rude to me, as if I was trying to commit *****... Why, as a Vodacom Red customer on my main number, must I struggle so much to try and cancel other numbers that I do not need anymore? I am a qualified financial professional, and I know how to tailor my packages, hence I took out Vodacom Red last year. The year has just been so hectic and I forgot to cancel the data I had... But when I wanted to cancel it, nobody could even help me. 2 weeks after I was ensured that it was cancelled, a sales consultant would inform me that nobody did anything to it... Now I am forced to pay R600 more due to the cancellations department's unwillingness to cancel an onerous contract for me for the past 2 months?
