Still waiting

The review below has reference.

I was contacted by Vodacom and was offered a 20% discount on my account for the remainder of the contract. When I accepted this discount, I received an sms that the discount had taken effect. However, my phone is still not working and I am left stranded. I was promised by one Cassandra that the matter is being investigated and that was over a week agao. When I searched my IMEI online, it says that it is Blacklisted (see attached picture) which Vodacom denies. They think that a 20% discount is what is impiortant and not that I have a functioning phone.

I was promised to be called by the manager at the Canal Walk shop but in vain. I have decided that I am going to have to escalate this matter to the ombudsman because nothing is being done yet a debit order is being taken off my account for services I am not receiving. I have emailed Cassandra countless times and she is now ignoring me. The email she has been using is **********

At this point I want a new handset that will not be blacklisted because when they unblacklisted my phone before (it was blacklisted for no reason) the same has happened again. I am fed up now and the ombudsman will be hearing from me.

(THIS IS MY PREVIOUS REVIEW BELOW)

I am having another problem with Vodacom which I thought had been sorted.

I have an Iphone 6s which I got through the Istore on a Vodacom upgrade. About 3 months ago, my sim card stopped working and I did not know what the problem was. All it said was "No service". When I put the sim card into another phone, it miraculously worked. When I put other sim cards into the very device that was giving me problems, they all worked. I went to Vodacom and was told to do a sim swap, this was after I had called customer care and they performed some sort of synchronisation which didn't solve the problem. I got the sim swap and waited that 48 hours for it to take effect and when I put it back into my phone it still did not work but the new sim card did work in other devices.

I went back to Vodacom and then their tune changed. I was now being told that they do not recognise the cellphone or the number associated with it and that it is not one of theirs (see photo attached). I was so confused as to how this could happen all of a sudden. I, then, got the Istore manager at Canal Walk in Cape Town to escort me to Vodacom (after failing to explain to Vodacom customer care on the phone) and state my case. When the Istore manager stated my case, the Vodacom employee then said that the phone was blacklisted by Telkom. Where does Telkom have ANYTHING to do with my cellphone as I have no business with Telkom.

Vodacom ended up admitting that they are the ones who blacklisted my phone and I was given no explanation and was not even compensated for all the time I lost while they were beating around the bush. The phone was 'unblacklisted' and the sim card worked (this is after I paid for sim swap for NOTHING) and I wasted money on travelling to and fro, as well as not being able to use my handset. But I was not even offered an apology.

2 days ago, guess what happens? The sim card refuses to work in my phone once again but works in all other devices. I go to Vodacom and they do not have any answers once again. I am fed up with the service I am receiving from Vodacom. I pay my contracts on time but am treated as if my account is in arrears. I give Vodacom in excess of R8000 a month on all my contracts but this is what I get in return.

I, firstly, want a formal apology for the way they handled my situation. Secondly, I would like to be compensated for the time I paid for my contract but was unable to use my benefits; this includes compensation for the sim swap that was clearly unnecessary because the phone was blacklisted. Thirdly, I want them to fix this issue or otherwise give me a new handset because the very handset I am talking about was taken in by Vodacom for a service which did nothing if the problem is still happening.

I am done being abused by Vodacom. If this continues, I will have to escalate my complaint further than HelloPeter because I am being taken for a ride by this company.

Regards

Nomfundo Molefe
