Stay away from Vodacom Fiber!!!!!!!!!!!
Our troubles started 05 April 2023 when the fiber line was broken down the street from us after a huge tree was dug out. It took Vodacom over 2 weeks to establish that it was not related to an area outage after the huge storm we had on 3 April 2023 but that we were the only customer that was on that line. After calls daily and almost a month later Vodacom made a temporary fix just to get us up and going. Then on Saturday 24 June 2023 the fiber goes dead again. We contacted the fiber department to report the issue and advised them to check down the street where they did the temp fix if the problem did not arise from there as the resident at that address was having home renovations done. After a week without contacting us to make an appointment we saw on our camera that here are people at the fiber box outside out yard. My husband went out to see if it was indeed Vodacom coming to repair our service. It was and they started talking and my husband explained to them what happened in April and where the problem was and that it was only a temp fix. Off they go to come back a few minutes later confirming that it was indeed the same place where the line as off. They then just drove off leaving us to think it will be handed over to another department to be fixed. I phoned to check why nobody came out to fix the problem after it was identified just to find out that that person just left it. A second person comes out.... same story, came back say we are right that the line is broken again on the same place as in April just to drive off again. I notified Vodacom that I am going to cancel my contract if the line is not fixed soon as I can not wait another month to be connected again. We had to cancel due to Vodacom not being able to supply us with a working internet connection. I still phoned in weekly to try and get it resolved so that I can cancel the cancellation of the contract just to find that they closed my SR*** fault with the reason - referred back to installer as a bad installation. We then requested that they credit us for the period 24/06/2023 - 31/07/2023 as they showed intend not to fix the problem before my notice period was up. They gave us a credit of R38.64 on 01/08/2023 after deducting for a full month of no service. We had no service at all for 37 days!!!!!!!!!!!! In fact I am 100% sure that fault on that line is not fixed to date. We referred the matter to ICASA and Vodacom agreed to give us the credit and referred the matter back to the Fiber department and there it ended. I am trying since last week to find out when the credit is going to be processed so we can get our money back. We are already exploring the next step, refer the matter to the Compliance Committee and or lodge a formal complaint with the National Consumer Commission.
