Stay away from Vodacom - Appalling Customer Service

On the 21st August I went to the Vodashop at Lakeside Mall to upgrade my phone and change ownership of the contract. A simple process once would think considering that this should be daily run of the mill stuff for any Vodacom store. I was advised that the process is not as easy as expected due to Vodacom migrating their systems. Why this should be the customers problem is anyone's guess.

In any case I was advised by the agent in store that the easiest way to get this done is to pay a cancellation fee, move the number to prepaid, change ownership and then apply for the contract upgrade. Again, simple enough one would think despite me having to pay a cancellation fee due to Vodacom migrating their systems. I duly obliged, paid the cancellation fee and submitted the proof of payment immediately. What was to come was astounding!

It is now more than two months later and the contract has not been activated. The staff at Lakeside Mall have been of no assistance. I have to constantly request feedback and enquire on status. After more than two months I get a call from the store on Monday, 24th August, saying the contract is done and will be activated by close of business. My number has been disconnected while Vodacom decide they will take their time in activating the contract. This means that I do not have a useable phone currently. Numerous calls to the call centre and emails to the store have been of no use. This has resulted in me not having a phone for more than 36 hours at the moment!

The staff at the Vodashop Lakeside Mall store dont seem interested in resolving this, as numerous emails over the past two months have been ignored. The Vodacom call centre are of absolutely no use as no matter who you speak to they are unable to assist because its the responsibility of another department not theirs.

After more than two months of endless frustrations I strongly advised anyone willing to give their business to Vodacom to reconsider. Incompetence is an understatement for this organisation.
