Stay away from Vodacom!

After upgrading my phone to a new Sony Z3 in January, it broke after only 2 weeks of use. I was making a series of calls and after the last call the back glass cover cracked without reason. I then took it in to Vodacom repairs where they sent it off to be assessed. I understood this to be a warranty issue and thought I would have my phone back within two weeks.
They then told me that warranty wouldn't cover the damage and I must pay for the repair. I then refused that and they sent it for escalation which declined it as well.
They told me that I must claim from my Vodacom insurance. I did not agree with that but decided just to submit a claim. After spending nearly 1 1/2hrs on the phone with Vodacom insurance I thought the issue was solved. They contacted me saying that they would cover the repair but the excess would be R1500 but if I repaired it myself it would be around R450. That is ridiculous to say the least! What is the point of having insurance?! I cannot believe that Vodacom would not repair, never mind replace a faulty phone and still want to make money out of me on the claim. It has been 2mnths now! I have been a vodacom client for 15yrs but not for much longer.
