Staff Attitude
I recently took out a contract with Vodacom at their Sandton City store in August when I purchased a new cellphone. I was an existing prepaid customer and wanted to keep my number. When I signed the contract, the consultant asked me if I wanted to pay for caller line identity and that it would be an additional R9.99. I asked if it was necessary and she said it’s to see numbers that would appear as private numbers on my phone. She did not state that all numbers including my saved contacts would appears as unknown. Based on her response i said no and signed the contract with caller line identity excluded. My number was ported and after a day or two I noticed that all numbers including numbers saved on my contact list was now appearing as unknown callers. I went to Vodacom Sandton City this weekend the 10.10.2020 and was assisted by another consultant who claimed her name was Lindi (an automatic message from Vodacom wanting customer feedback states her name is Princess). When I enquired about the unknown calls including numbers saved in my contact list she stated it's because I had elected not to take the caller line identity. I then said I was not aware it was for all numbers including numbers already stored on my phone and had I known I would not have taken the contract with Vodacom. She then said to me well you signed the contract excluding the caller line identity so you knew. I explained to her what the previous consultant said to me and she said maybe there was a miscommunication but if I want to complain I can go ahead as she will just pull out the contract I signed. I then decided to take the caller line identity which she activated for me. What irritated me was her attitude when she assisted me. I could have accepted the fact that there was a miscommunication and did agree to pay the extra charge after she explained but her defensive condescending attitude when she assisted me is what I have an issue with. I was not a customer trying to score a freebie, I genuinely did not know hence why I was frustrated with Vodacom and not even her personally. However, based on her attitude toward me I will not recommend Vodacom to anyone and will think twice before taking out any future contracts with Vodacom.
