Sony Xperia Z Smart phone

i just upgraded my contract @ vodacom and took the new sony experia Z3 and my new phone is not even a year old and it cracked screen and back. when i upgraded i could have choosen my device from 65 devices but instead i choose the sony z3 experia as it was suppose to be scratch resistant and water proof but what they dont tell you is if you charge your phone it cracks and when you go back to them they send you a invoice of R2741.53 to repair after the phones initial price is R10 000.00 plus . all they can say is that it is physical damage. as a vodacom customer for more then 6 years now i so dissapointed maybe should take up cell c`s offer to buy out my contract
