Sold a brand new damaged phone

Purchsed a Huawei Y5 Lite cash on the 28/07/2020 only to get home and find out that the phone is not working correctly(no dialing tone, doesnt ring when recieving calls )alot of faults . Seemed good in store only to get home and actually find out that its not working. Took the phone back to Vodacom on the bluff -bluff towers on on the 03/08/2020 within 7 days of purchase for a refund only to be told that the phone must be repaired before a refund can be done. Why the need to repair a brand new phone. Spoke to Freedom who insisted that they did not sell me a damaged phone and that it is vodacoms protocol to try to repair the device before refunding me my money. This means that for 7-14 working days i will be without a device. This is pathectic service for such a big brand, selling inadequate phones and hiding behind process and procedures that need to be followed. Ive only ever had contracts and bought devices from vodacom , however i am now finally done with them after this last encounter. Today is the 12/08/2020 and guess what not one person from vodacom has called to give me an update and im still waiting for a device or my money back.
