I was previously on a small top-up contract. Being on a top-up there was no credit limit naturally, if my airtime finishes the rest of the month was my own expense. Recently I took out an Iphone from vodacom on a TOP-UP XL contract. On the first of November I get a text saying "User softlocked" and all of a sudden my network cuts and I can't make calls and my data is cut. I call vodacom and they tell me that I have reached my credit limit... Now this was confusing me, did I exceed 400 minutes and 800MB in a matter of 12 hours? The lady told me that it is not the case however my "credit limit" is a R1000 and my contract is R1300. I am still confused as to how did they manage to open a R1300 contract for me without checking if I have a limit firstly and secondly I am the account holder and I chose to upgrade my contract why is there a credit limit and who authorized it? Anyway, back to my call. I asked the lady what do I do? She tells me that she will unlock my phone but cannot do anything about the credit limit as the department is closed. I said fair enough unlock it and I will email vodacom to solve this issue. Eventually this problem became consistent. After 5 email requests and about 13 phone calls from my side and ONE phone call from their side. I will give them due though the one phone call on a friday night to tell me that they cannot do anything until monday gave me reasonable explanation. Monday morning (14/11/16) I tried calling vodacom and a lovely message comes through "sorry, you have reached your limit for calling vodacom customer care." I am sitting with a softlocked phone, I cant make any calls, I took out a high range contract and have signed for R1300 a month, and yet I am sitting with a redundant phone because vodacom cannot solve problems. The last few calls I had made the agents had told me that a service request is logged on my phone and will be solved within 24 hours, until then my phone cannot get unlocked. It has now been 140 hours to be exact since my first reference number and NOTHING has been sorted. I have past the stage of frustration and am seriously considering cancelling the contract. Pathetic beyond words.

Assisted by Muneeb Kolia from Solutions and got a call from Cassandra as well.
Had to deal with more hair-pulling after this was posted, however they have finally solved the issue.
